Description
Church Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features a plain tiled roof that is half hipped with two parallel ridges and a valley in between. The building has a modillion eaves cornice and red brick end stacks. It is two storeys high with an attic. The main facade facing The Causeway has three 20th-century dormers and a symmetrical arrangement of five flush frame, twelve-pane hung sash windows from the 19th century, set in open boxing. There is a three-brick band between the storeys. The original early 18th-century flat hood over the doorway is supported by enriched console brackets and features a six-panelled door with original radial glazing bars in a round-headed arch fanlight. To the left, there are two parallel linked service ranges that are likely from the same period. These are timber-framed, plaster rendered, and have a steeply pitched tiled roof, consisting of one storey and a loft. An adjoining wall at the south end, also from the early 18th century, is made of red brick with gable coping and a dentil cornice. Inside, there is an original four-flight staircase with a closed string, turned balusters, and square newels, as well as a staggered butt purlin roof.
