Description

WESTON COLVILLE CHURCH END TL 65 SW 5/114 Weston Colville Hall II House. Early C18, mid C18 and C19. Red brick, stuccoed, and slated and end parapets on kneelers to front range. End stacks. Now irregular plan, but symmetrical C18 house on north side extended on south by stairbay in mid C18. C19 two storey extension on each end of early C18 north range and further extensions in the angles between north range and stairbay. Two storeys and attic. Two early C18 dormers with pedimented gables. Symmetrical facade in five bays. Centre bay flanked by giant pilasters with Corinthian capitals. Five original steps now in modern porch lead up to doorway. Wooden door and case. Raised surrounds and keyblocks to hung sashes with central glazing bars, C19. Addition at west end has cast iron porch with tented roof. Interior: Early C18 raised and fielded panelling and two bolection moulded fireplaces on ground floor. Two flight open well, open string staircase with winders rising through two storeys. Three balusters to each tread of column-on-vase type, the column enriched with iron twists and the vase carved. Fluted Doric columns as newels and moulded rail.
