Description

Blackbird Cottage is a mid-17th century cottage located on Pampisford High Street. The building was originally listed as numbers 10 and 12. It is timber-framed and plastered, with a half-hipped thatched roof, though the roof has been partially replaced with red pantiles. A 19th-century extension exists to the south. The east-facing side includes the main entrance, and the west gable features two horizontal sliding sash windows. To the left of the boarded front door in the extension is a further sash window. The interior reveals an exposed timber frame with some reused timbers and straight braces. The chimney stack has been rebuilt, incorporating original bricks, and a clunch stone removed from the chimney stack is dated 'SP 1666'.
