Description
Linton Thatch and Thatcholme are two cottages located on the south side of The Grip in Linton. They date from the late 16th century and early 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The cottages are timber-framed and plastered, featuring a plastered plinth. They have thatched and pantiled roofs and are one storey with attics, although the west end of No. 20 is two storeys.
No. 20 and part of No. 18 to the west were originally one building with a late 16th-century lobby entry and a three-unit plan. No. 18 has end stacks and a two-unit plan with a lobby entry to the west. In the 19th century, both cottages were modified to create a row of three dwellings. There are two red brick ridge stacks and an end stack on the right side. The cottages feature six ground floor windows of various sizes with glazing bars, two boarded doors, three dormer windows, and one attic window with horizontal sliding sashes. There is also 20th-century pargetted decoration. Inside, the cottages have exposed timber frames, floor frames, and original hearths.
