Description

Box Tree Cottage is a late 18th-century cottage located on Way Lane in Waterbeach. It features a timber frame with plaster and a reed thatched roof. There is an attached barn that is timber framed, weather boarded, and also thatched. The cottage is one storey with an attic and has a three-unit, lobby entry plan. The kitchen has been rebuilt with a later 19th-century cooking hearth, and there are 19th-century side and ridge stacks. The cottage has four gabled dormer windows and modern casements at the ground floor, along with a closed, gabled porch. Inside, the cottage has light timber framed walls and floors, with some reused timber in the barn. There is a 19th-century boxed stair and doors, as well as two inglenook hearths.
