Description
The stable block, located 20 yards northwest of Longstowe Hall, dates from around 1700, although its front was rebuilt in the late 19th to early 20th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond and features a hipped roof covered with plain tiles. The building is two storeys high.
The front elevation facing south has been remodeled and includes a shaped gable with a clock at the center. The east wall contains three original blocked openings, each with shouldered and moulded brick surrounds. The west wall features some moulded brickwork in a round-headed blocked opening.
On the southeast side of the stable block, there is a wall with a doorway leading to the stable yard. This doorway, dating from the late 19th century, is made of Ketton limestone and is flanked by fluted Doric engaged columns on plinths, topped with an entablature and cornice.
