Description
Glebe House is a house dating from the early 17th century, with 19th-century renovations. It features a timber frame, rendered exterior, and a plain tiled roof that is half hipped at the north end. A red brick ridge stack with three diagonally set shafts sits on a rectangular base, aligned with the ridge. The early 17th-century north range has two bays and is complemented by a 19th-century crosswing at the south end. The house is two storeys high, with the main elevation located at the south end. It includes a reset oval window from the early 18th century, situated in a gabled through dormer above a gabled timber porch that has bargeboarding. The house has modern windows. The rear range has a rebuilt plinth and new openings, along with a modern gabled dormer.
Inside, the inglenook hearth and some framing in the main posts are remnants of the original house. However, none of the roof structure over the rear range remains, and there have been significant alterations to the wall frame. Of the original main trusses, only the tie beam next to the 19th-century crosswing remains, and the posts have jowled heads.
