Description
The Thatched Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with mid-20th century alterations. It is timber-framed, plaster rendered, and thatched, featuring a ridge stack. The original layout has been modified due to later enlargements. The cottage has one storey and an attic, with two gables above two casement windows. The ground floor includes a door, a bread oven, and a three-light window. There are pantiled lean-tos on each gable end. A rear wing, added in the mid-20th century by a former Clerk of Works to Trinity College, Cambridge, is also timber-framed, plaster rendered, and thatched, with similar small pane casements. Inside, the timber framing and baking oven are exposed, along with slender roof trusses.
