Description

South Dales Barn, formerly known as the Barn at Dales Farm, is a Grade II listed building located on the south side of Barton Comberton Road. This barn, now converted into a house, dates back to 1766, as indicated by the date inscribed on the tiebeam, along with the initials ET, WA, and RA.

The structure is timber-framed and features weatherboarding above a narrow gault brick sill, which may have been rebuilt. It has a long straw thatched roof that is half-hipped at both ends. The barn consists of four bays and is aisled, with an original cart entrance located on the north side.

Inside, the barn showcases jowled wall posts and arch-braced tiebeams. The roof is supported by queen strut trusses with collars, and there is an aisle principal rafter that supports the aisle purlin.
