Description

No. 38 is a cottage, likely built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features a timber frame, rendered with long straw thatch on the roof, and has a gault brick axial ridge stack. The layout follows a lobby entry plan, with two dormers and two windows on either side of the doorway leading to the lobby. The entrance has a panelled door. Inside, the timber framing is slight, with long slender wall braces typical of late framing. There is an inglenook hearth made of red and yellow gault brick, along with a smaller hearth in the parlour. The floor has similar bricks, one of which is inscribed with the year 1807, possibly indicating the date of the cottage's construction.
