Description

No 1 West Street is a 17th-century building located on an island site facing the Causeway. It has two storeys, is timber-framed and plastered, and features a tiled roof with the upper storey projecting along the street front. The building has two windows on the upper floor, which are sliding sashes, and two 18th-century bay windows on the lower floor. There is a later one-window extension on the east side. The 18th-century doorcase includes fluted pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment, along with an ornamental fanlight and a six-panel door. A central brick stack is present.
