Description
Brookside is an L-plan farmhouse that has been built in three distinct phases. The oldest part consists of two bays of an open hall, featuring an original smoke-blackened collar rafter roof. This section is located at the rear of a late 16th century, two-storey timber-framed and plastered addition, which jetties to the north-east and has an exposed frame and half-hipped roof. In the late 17th century, a rendered brick wing was added to the south-east, also two storeys high, with a shallow parapet gable and an end stack. A hall floor and chimney stack were inserted during this period. The roofs are covered with plain tiles. The north-east street facade includes four windows with glazing bars, two of which are in the brick wing and feature segmental arches, along with a half-glazed door. Inside, there are two inglenook hearths and stop-chamfered ceiling beams.
