Description
No. 10 Church Street is a 17th-century house, marked by a plaque that reads 'H.S. 1645', although it has undergone some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with freestone dressings and features a Collyweston stone slated roof. It has a ridge stack that has been rebuilt in brick. The house is two storeys tall with an attic and has a gable facing the street.
On the south elevation, there is an original doorway with moulded jambs and a lintel, along with a moulded cornice to the left, which has been blocked. Above this doorway is the diamond-shaped plaque dated 'H.S. 1645'. The straight joints in the masonry indicate some rebuilding has occurred. The street-facing elevation includes a ground floor four-light ovolo-moulded mullioned casement window with a moulded cornice, a similar three-light window on the first floor, and a 20th-century casement window with a wooden lintel in the attic.
