Description

The gateway located to the west of Number 4 on Church Street in Alwalton is a Grade II listed structure, originally serving as an entrance doorway. It is dated 1684 on the frieze and was rebuilt around 1975. The gateway is made of rusticated limestone and features a moulded cornice topped by a segmental pediment. It has a moulded wooden architrave and a frieze that is painted black, with a white inscription reading 'APRIL ICM 1684'. This gateway was previously the entrance to April House in Farcet, which was demolished around 1975.
