Description
Bythorn House is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of rendered and painted brick, along with red brick, and features slated roofs. The house has a large rear stack on the left side, a ridge stack, and an end stack on the right side. It stands two storeys tall, with a recessed service wing to the north and a single-storey range.
The main range has three symmetrical bays, with an entrance accessed by stone steps. A Tuscan portico with a plain entablature and a pierced cast iron balustraded parapet adorns the entrance. Above the door is a fanlight with interlacing glazing bars set within a four-centred head, leading to double glazed doors that have geometric patterned lights. Flanking the entrance are two twelve-paned hung sash windows with side lights, and there are three twelve-paned hung sash windows on the first floor. The main range is topped with a hipped roof.
