Description
7 East Street is a building dated 1733, as indicated by a stone plaque on the north-west gable wall. It is a two-storey house with an attic and features a symmetrical facade. Attached to the main structure is a two-storey rear wing from the 19th century, which is possibly connected to an early 18th-century stable block that has been converted for domestic use. The house is constructed of local brick, with a rendered street facade and rusticated stone quoins. It has plain tile roofs and end stacks.
The building includes three casement dormer windows and three recessed hung sash windows on the first floor, which have key blocks above them. Flanking the doorway are two large casement windows with internal shutters. The doorcase features fluted pilasters, and the panelled reveals continue into a round-headed arch adorned with a broken pediment and dentil decoration. A radial fanlight with cast-iron glazing bars is above the six-panelled door. Inside, the property has early 19th-century details, including a staircase that overlays an earlier 18th-century stair and some original panelled doors.
