Description

This is a timber-framed house dating from around 1500, located in Kimbolton. The house comprises a three-bay hall range and a two-bayed cross-wing to the north-west. The main range is two storeys high. The timber framing is largely obscured by rough-cast rendering, although some original timberwork remains exposed. The cross-wing has an underbuilt jetty, and its north-west wall is built of painted brick. The roofs are covered in plain tiles, with some crested ridge tiles present. A large brick ridge stack is visible. The main range has three first-floor casement windows, while four hung sash windows with glazing bars are positioned to the left of the four-panelled front door. The cross-wing has one horizontal sliding sash window with glazing bars. The interior features an original timber-framed chimney constructed with jambs of field boulders and later brickwork, alongside a richly moulded, cross-beamed hall ceiling. Further original features include the side purlin roofs, characterised by broad windbraces within each roof bay.
