Description

31 Broadway is a mid-19th century building that stands three storeys tall and features three windows. It has a slated hipped roof with projecting eaves and a cement front. The building includes plain cill bands at the first and second floors, and square-headed, recessed sash windows with margin lights. The ground floor has been altered. This building was formerly the home of the Goodman family, who were local mill owners, and it incorporated No. 29, which used to be a ballroom and is now a cinema. The building is part of a group that includes No. 1, 7 to 13 (odd), No. 17, and Nos. 21 to 39 (odd), along with the shop adjoining No. 1.
