Description

Spring Cottage is a late 16th-century cottage with a three-unit plan, originally one storey with attics. It is timber-framed and covered with rough cast render. The roof is thatched, in two levels and half-hipped to the right, featuring two dormer windows. A later two-storey range of brick construction with a plain tile roof and a hipped dormer window was added to the left. The cottage has two hung sash windows with glazing bars, and a modern casement window on the ground floor to the right. A modern thatched porch has been built. Louvred doors lead to a cellar beneath the extension, which has a brick shaft to the spring. Inside, there is a stop-chamfered ceiling beam with run-out stops, and an inserted floor in the hall. Originally, the service room was a single storey.
