Description
Oak Cottage is a 16th-century cottage that features an inserted floor in the hall, which is dated 1593 on a ceiling beam. The building is one storey with an attic and has a three-unit plan. It is constructed with a timber frame that is rendered, along with colour-washed brick gables and foundations. The roof is half-hipped and thatched, with a ridge stack. There are two modern dormer windows and three casement windows on the ground floor, along with a modern oak door aligned with the stack. Inside, the cottage has stop-chamfered ceiling beams, a moulded mantel beam, and an original seat for two inglenook hearths. Notably, a tie beam has been removed from its original position in the hall to accommodate a modern rear extension.
