Description
The Mill House is a cottage that was originally the mill house, dating from the late 17th century, with renovations and additions made in the 20th century. It is constructed of possibly limestone rubble and brick, which is rendered, and features a thatched roof. The building has an end stack on the left side and a double flue on a red brick ridge stack. It is one storey high with an attic and has a three-unit plan, along with a shallow projecting gabled wing added in the 20th century to the north. The main entrance is accessed by steps made from mill stones. There are two 20th-century ground floor casement windows and a bay window, as well as two gabled dormer windows. Inside, the house features back-to-back open hearths made of coursed limestone rubble, one of which formerly included a baking oven, and exposed chamfered ceiling beams.
