Description
Waverly Cottage is a late 16th-century farmhouse featuring a hall and cross-wing plan, now divided into two dwellings. It has a 19th-century two-storey brick and pantile extension to the east. The building is one storey with attics, constructed from timber framing and rough-cast, with gault brick facing up to the first-floor level. The roofs are thatched, and the cross-wing has a half-hipped design. There is a ridge stack located at the junction of the cross-wing. The first-floor has a horizontal sliding sash window with glazing bars set in a moulded architrave, while the ground floor features three similar windows in segmental arches. The original entrance is marked by a four-panelled door aligned with the stack. Inside, the cottage boasts two large inglenook hearths and stop-chamfered ceiling beams.
