Description
Dove Cotes and Dove Cottage are two dwellings located on Colne High Street, dating from the late 16th century. Originally a farmhouse with two cross-wings, the buildings are timber-framed and rough-cast, topped with plain tile roofs. They feature a central ridge stack adorned with a rubbed brick cornice and three octagonal shafts with moulded bases, along with external stacks on the cross-wings.
On the first floor, there is a range of four horizontal sliding sash windows with glazing bars, set in flat-headed arches and framed by moulded architraves. The ground floor has three hung sashes with glazing bars in segmental arches. To the left, there is a modern shop window and door, while to the right, a modern house door is framed by a doorcase with a moulded architrave, corner bosses, plain reveals, and a projecting shaped cornice.
