Description
COLNE BLUNTISHAM ROAD 1. 5140 (west side) York House TL 37 NE 5/22 II GV 2. Built in 1844, date on rain water head (recently removed). Double pile plan with two projecting wings and central rear kitchen window. Two-storeys. Gault brick; shallow pitched modern tile roofs half-hipped to wings. Stone steps lead up to central porch spanning facade between wings, with tented roof and cast iron trellis with Greek anthemion motif. Recessed, four-panelled door and side lights. Door- case with panelled reveals, panelled pilasters and moulded freize. Segmental arched fanlight with glazing bars in gauged brick arch, symmetrical first-floor range of three hung sashes, with glazing bars and margin lights in cambered ganged brick arches. Two ground floor French casement windows with glazing bars and margin lights in each wing. Cast-iron trellised porch to garden door in left hand wing. Garden wall with terminating brick piers with stone caps and ball finials. Interior: Intact, with original four-panelled doors and chimney pieces. Fine, free- standing open-string staircase with mahogany handrails and cast-iron balusters. Some original C19 wallpaper in garden lobby of south wing.
