Description

Diss Cottage is a house built around 1910 in a Vernacular Revival style, designed by the Reverend Oliphant. The house is one storey with attics, constructed of red brick, with a rendered cross-wing to the left. It has plain tile roofs and weather-boarded gable dormer windows. The windows are casements with diagonal and rectangular leaded lights, featuring locally forged fittings. A bay window is located to the right, and there is a lean-to porch. A panelled door is fitted with strap hinges.

Inside, the house features a galleried staircase hall, two large inglenook hearths and original doors and cupboards. The Reverend F.J. Kingsley-Backenbury-Oliphant, Rector of Houghton between 1901 and 1930, is documented as having connections to the property.
