Description
The premises occupied by Charrington's is a mid-19th century building located on Station Road. It features a double-fronted design with three windows and stands two storeys tall. The building has a hipped slate roof with a corbelled brick cornice and is constructed from gault brick. Shallow brick pilasters with stop-chamfers are positioned between the window bays, and there is a plain band at the first floor level. A dentil string band runs above the first floor windows. The recessed first floor sash windows are topped with gauged segmental brick arches and block keystones, while the central first floor window is round-arched. The ground floor sash windows, which have three lights, are also recessed and feature gauged flat brick arches with bracketed sills. The round-arched doorway is flanked by pilasters that support an archivolt with a block keystone, and it includes a fanlight and double panelled doors.
