Description
The Church of St Etheldreda, built in 1876, is designed in the early English style. It features coursed rubblestone with a tiled roof. The west wall has a repaired bell-cote above a west window that contains two trefoil lights with a foiled head set in a two-centred arch. The nave consists of three bays, one of which includes a two-light window with a foiled head in a two-centred arch, while another bay has three trefoil lights with a foiled head in a two-centred arch. The south porch is gabled and has a two-centred outer arch that is moulded and supported by attached shafts. The chancel is tiled and has two windows with one trefoil light each in a two-centred head, along with an east window that features three trefoil lights with a foiled head. There is a north vestry that includes a stone stack.
Inside, the chancel arch is composed of two moulded orders, with the outer roll moulded on attached shafts that have foliate capitals and moulded bases. The inner arch is chamfered and supported by three grouped, attached colonettes with half octagonal capitals carried on corbels. In the south wall of the chancel, there is a piscina and double sedilia, both with cinquefoil cusping to their two-centred arches. The retable is made of stone, and there are two-centred arches across five bays, which are divided by marble shafts.
