Description
Waldersy Pumping Station is a Grade II listed building located in Wisbech, built in 1832 and modernised around 1932 when diesel engines were introduced, possibly resulting in the removal of the original beam engine. The structure is made of local red brick and features slate roofs. It consists of three parts: a central three-storey engine house with five symmetrical hung sash windows in gauged brick arches on each floor, along with a central panelled door. To the right is the wheel house, which has a side entrance and a large metal window with fanned glazing bars set in a round-headed arch. On the left, there is a single-storey stoke house with a tall square chimney. This information is referenced in Alderton and Booker’s Batsford Guide to Industrial Archaeology from 1967.
