Description
No. 9 Union Street is a former inn, originally known as The New Inn, dating from the 18th century, with a timber-framed rear wing that dates back to the 16th century. The building features a rendered brick exterior and has a steeply pitched slate roof with a shallow gable parapet. It stands three storeys high and has a carriageway on the left side. The facade consists of four bays, with rusticated quoins and jambs surrounding all windows. The second floor has four-paned casement windows, while the first floor features twelve-paned hung sash windows. There is a modern shopfront and a renovated basement. Inside, the rear wing displays exposed timber framing, including tie-beams.
