Description
No. 48 Church Street is a house dating from the late 18th century. It features a front wall made of gault brick in English bond and a pebbledash rear wall. The roof is covered with reed thatch and has tumbled and parapetted gable ends, along with a dentil eaves cornice. The building is designed in an L-plan and has two storeys. On the first floor, there are two late 19th-century tripartite hung sash windows, and there are two more on the ground floor. The entrance boasts an early 19th-century doorcase with plain pilasters, an entablature, and a hood supported by brackets, leading to a panelled door. The rear elevation has flush frame hung sashes. Inside, there are opposing front and rear doorways, an early 19th-century open string staircase with square section balusters and a moulded rail.
