Description

No. 56 Whitmore Street is a cottage that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of gault brick with a steeply pitched reed thatched roof. The building features tumbled parapet gable ends and symmetrical flush end stacks. There are three later dormers that have 20th-century windows. The central doorway retains its original doorcase and has a raised and fielded panelled door. The two flanking windows are also from the 20th century but are set within original red brick arches.
