Description

This is a late 17th-century cottage located in Whittlesey. The building is primarily timber-framed with rendered walls and a rubblestone wall on the left. It has a long straw and reed thatched roof, which is half-hipped, and an early 18th-century brick ridge stack. The cottage is arranged in an L-shape, with one storey and an attic containing two later gable dormers. The front doorway is to the left and consists of four raised and fielded panels with two flush panels. A kitchen wing extends to the rear, also thatched and timber-framed. Inside, the cottage features stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, abutting inglenooks, one of which is blocked. Other interior details include raised and fielded panel doors and a side purlin roof. Notably, there is straight upward tracery from posts to the tie beam.
