Description
6 and 8 Norfolk Street are two cottages dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. They are built of painted local brick and feature thatched roofs. The cottages are one storey high with attics and have parapet gables. There is an end stack to the left and a 20th-century ridge stack, along with a large local brick ridge stack. The ground floor includes four casement windows, two of which have horizontal sliding sashes, and there is one boarded door. An extension to No. 6, added in 1909 for a butcher's shop, features a panelled door with a rectangular fanlight and shop windows. There are four dormer windows, two of which also have horizontal sliding sashes. To the south, there is an attached weatherboarded outbuilding with a corrugated iron roof. No. 8 was formerly the Carpenters' Arms public house.
