Description

This is a terrace house built around 1800. It is one of six houses constructed as part of the planned Castle Estate circus by Joseph Medworth. The house is built of local brown brick, with a slate roof featuring 19th-century ridge tiles and a side chimney stack. It has three storeys and a basement. The building features a shallow parapet with stone copings, and a painted stone sill band at first floor level. The second floor has three nine-paned recessed sash windows set within cambered red gauged brick arches. Similar, but larger, sash windows are present on the first and ground floors. The wooden doorcase features fluted pilasters, a broken pediment, a round-headed fanlight, and a five-panelled door. Documentation including photographs and prints from the 18th and 19th centuries are held at the Wisbech & Fenland Museum.
