Description

Castle Vaults is a 17th-century structure featuring brick tunnel vaults. It has a long central passage that runs east-west and covers an area of approximately 70 by 90 feet, indicating that it was likely constructed specifically for the 17th-century mansion. Some of the wall materials and the well may date back to medieval times. The entrance to the vaults, which faces east, was built by Joseph Medworth around 1816 to provide access to the well.
