Barn About 60 Metres West Of Westerley Lodge Farmhouse

Barn about 60 metres west of Westley Lodge Farmhouse, probably from the 18th century. It has a weatherboarded timber frame on a brick plinth, with the northeast side rendered. The roof is slate and half-hipped. The barn features five bays with opposing entrances in the central bay and a single aisle on the southwest side. There are full-height doorways on the front and rear, with the rear doorway located in the lower aisle. A later doorway is present on the northwest end, and there is a flint outshut on the southeast end.

Inside, the barn has staggered girts and close studding in the walls, jowled posts, and curved braces supporting the tie-beams and aisle plate. The original clasped side purlins remain, although later king-posts and struts have been added. The common rafters and ridge-board are intact, and the area above the rafters is boarded.
