Description
The Thatches is a row of four cottages ornee, now functioning as a single dwelling, dating from the 18th century to the early 19th century. The building features plastered walls and thatched roofs, with a tall red brick central ridge stack and two end stacks. The symmetrical facade is two storeys high, with one storey and attic wings. On the first floor, there are five three-light leaded casement windows with four-centred arches, made of pine in oak frames. The building also has two gabled dormer windows, each featuring two-light casement windows set in round-headed arches. The ground floor includes six similar three-light windows, with the two central windows being larger. The central entrance is a half-glazed door, flanked by two doors in the wings that are set in segmental arches. Inside, the original red brick inglenook hearths are present, with two retaining baking ovens. The interior also features original plank doors and hinges.
