Description
The Red Lion Inn is an inn that dates back to the late 16th century, featuring a hall and a service area to the right of a central stack, with a 17th-century addition to the left. There is a 19th-century weatherboarded gable lean-to on the left side. The building has a plastered timber frame and painted brick, with a rebuilt central stack above the roof and an additional stack to the right. The roofs are covered with asbestos and slate. The inn stands one storey and attic high, as well as two storeys. It includes one casement dormer window, five first-floor casement windows, and a modern closed brick porch. Inside, there is a side purlin, wind-braced roof in the 16th-century hall, with the original floor frame and exposed wall frames at the first floor. The inglenook hearths are sealed, and there is a 19th-century boxed staircase at the first floor.
