Description
The Old Rectory is a house that was formerly used as a rectory. It dates from the 18th century and has undergone alterations and additions around 1825 and in the late 19th century. The building is constructed of painted red brick with slate roofs and features both a red brick stack and a 19th-century brick stack. The gables are adorned with barge boards. The west wing of the house is three storeys tall, while the north-south range is two storeys. There is a modern porch at the main entrance located at the angle of the two sections. The west wing has six recessed hung sash windows with glazing bars, all topped with gauged brick arches. The main range has three hung sash windows, and the entrance door is set within a wide elliptical headed arch. Inside, notable features include a well-crafted closed string pine staircase.
