Description

The Fordham War Memorial is a structure featuring a Doric column made of Portland stone. Originally, it was topped with a bronze statue of St George by Sir George Frampton RA, but since the 1990s, it has been replaced by a fibreglass version created by Robert Donaldson. The column stands on a two-stage square plinth, which is set on a two-stage square base, making the overall height of the memorial 6 meters.

Inscriptions on the upper stage of the plinth include "OUR GLORIOUS DEAD" on the south side, "MCMXIV" (1914) on the west side, and "MCMXIX" (1919) on the east side. The names of those who fell in both wars are engraved on all four sides of the lower plinth.
