Description
No. 13 St Mary's Street, known as the Ely Dispensary, was built in 1865. This single-storey building is constructed from buff-coloured brick and features stone rusticated quoins and a carved stone parapet designed in a Gothic style. The central gable includes a panel and shield. The front has one window range, which consists of a four-light stone mullioned and transomed window with a stone hood mould. The doorway is framed by a four-centred stone moulded arch with carved spandrels, and above it is a panel inscribed with "Ely Dispensary 1865. Heal the Sick." The roof is covered with slate.
This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 13 to 29 (odd) and 29A, Parson's Almshouses, as well as Nos. 20, 22, 22A, Nos. 24 to 30 (even), Nos. 34, 36, 36A, 38, and Nos. 40 to 60 (even), along with No. 20 Church Lane and the Parish Church of St Mary.
