Description
The wall and gates to the Chantry are a substantial structure made of buff-colored brick with a weathered tile capping. The lower part of the wall dates from the 18th century, while the upper part was rebuilt in the early 19th century. This wall encloses the garden of the Chantry on the east, west, and south sides. The south side features a large central gateway with heavy, square stone gate posts, cornices, and ball finials. The gates themselves are made of ornamental wrought iron. The Chantry, along with the walls and gates, No 3, and the wall and railings to No 3, form a group with the Bishop's Palace, The College, and The Cathedral of The Holy Trinity.
