Description

This is a house dating from approximately 1630-40, with a largely rebuilt facade from the mid-19th century and other alterations and additions of the same period. The front range is of original narrow gault brick with wide mortar courses, except for the facade itself, which is of mid-19th century grey gault brick. A rear range is timber-framed and roughcast rendered. The steeply pitched roof is covered in mid-19th century slates and features end stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan, with two storeys and attics. The front has three mid-19th century recessed sash windows with gauged, grey brick arches. A central doorway, also from the mid-19th century, is flanked by side lights and has a doorcase with plain pilasters, a plain entablature, and a narrow dentilled cornice. Inside the front range, the floor framing is visible, and the spine beams and joists are ovolo moulded. The timber framing is visible within the rear wing.
