Description
Nos. 1-16 on High Street are eight pairs of estate cottages built in the late 18th century or early 19th century for John Tharp, the owner of Chippenham Park. They are constructed from painted local brick and feature half-hipped plain tile roofs. Each pair has a tall square ridge stack positioned centrally. The cottages are one storey high with attics and include single storey outbuildings, all linked by a shared passage that has red pantile roofs. Each pair is adorned with two gabled dormer windows that have casements and glazing bars. There are two boarded doors on either side and two horizontal sliding sash windows with latticed iron glazing bars. Some windows also feature boarded shutters.
