Description

The bridge over Hobson's Bridge at the entrance to the Botanic Garden, dated 1850, is a single span cast-iron structure featuring pierced spandrels. It has moulded standards and plain handrails, adorned with rosettes and the University Arms, as well as the name of the ironfounder, Hurrell (Swan Hurrell of Market Hill). At the west end of the bridge, there are iron gates with flanking railings, all designed with spear-head uprights.
