Description

The Old Milestone, located about 650 yards southeast from Red Cross, is a square stone approximately 2 feet high that features a bench mark. The inscription on the stone is illegible. The roadway it stands on was originally Roman but was rebuilt at the request of William Wort, who died in 1709, suggesting that the milestone may date from that time.
