Description
Nine Wells Monument is a monument built in 1861. It features a polished granite obelisk set on a podium with inscriptions and a stepped base, which is placed on a stepped base of gault brick. The monument is surrounded by iron railings. The springs at Nine Wells have supplied Hobson's Conduit in Cambridge since 1610. The inscriptions include a dedication to Thomas Hobson, the carrier who financed the 17th century fountain house that once stood in the market place and was part of this project.
