Description
Hobson's Conduit is a Grade II* listed structure located on Trumpington Road, originally erected on Market Hill in 1614 and moved to its current position in 1856. It is a hexagonal stone building featuring a moulded plinth and a niche on each side with a shell-head. The structure has an entablature topped with strapwork cresting, which includes the achievement of the Royal Arms on one side, along with putti and carved beasts at the corners. The ogee-shaped top is crowned with a pineapple finial. The conduit was restored in 1967 and is notable as the fountainhead of one of the earliest public water supplies.
