Description
The Social Service Department is a late 19th-century building located on Castle Street. It is constructed of grey gault brick and has two storeys with a total of six windows arranged in a 2:1:3 pattern, with a single window set forward above the main entrance. The ground floor windows are recessed within arches and are all sash windows, featuring cast-iron traceried heads. The projecting bay is rusticated, and the entrance is marked by an open pediment above panelled double doors. There is a string course at the first-floor level, and the roof is not visible due to the parapet.
