Description
The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is a Grade I listed building located on the east side of Bridge Street, opposite the north end of St John's Street. It is one of only five surviving round churches in the country. The circular nave, along with its aisle, dates from the first half of the 12th century. The upper part of the church was altered in the 15th century, with remnants of that period visible in the chancel. A significant restoration and partial rebuilding took place in 1841, overseen by A. Salvin and funded by the Cambridge Camden Society, with much of the eastern arm belonging to this restoration. Most of the interior fittings are from this period. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, along with Nos 8-19 (cons) and The Church of St Clement, forms a notable group.
